Jen Oyler Yaniv | Principal Investigator
A biologist from the womb (once brought a preserved pig home from school… seriously). Obsessed with the immune system and the clever ways pathogens thwart its defenses.
-
Alon Oyler-Yaniv | Principal Investigator
Physicist turned quantitative biologist. Likes microscopes, complex biological systems, and simple physical laws.
-
Max Brambach | Postdoc
Max is our light sheet expert with a background in Physics and a PhD from the University of Zürich focused on whole embryo imaging. He’s interested in how the tissue spatial organization of immune cells arises and impacts pathogen responses.
-
Sanne Boersma | Postdoc
Sanne comes to us from the Hubrecht Institute in the Netherlands and has a background in single molecule imaging of actively translating mRNAs from both virus and host. Sanne’s eager to take her expertise with live cell imaging of host-virus interactions to the whole tissue level.

Maddie Ward | Research Assistant
Maddie is a recent graduate of Franklin Pierce University on the path to medical school. She will use microscopy to study the spatial relationship between cellular translational inhibition and sites of active viral replication.
-
Karla Flores | Lab Manager
Karla has been working at HMS since 2018 starting off as an animal technician and then transitioning to lab manager for Systems Biology. She loves being involved in all the different ways to make science happen.
